Summer in the city can wreak havoc on runners who choose to train outdoors. Here are some common conditions to watch out for:
Overheating – if you feel yourself getting too hot, get more water, slow down; to avoid overheating, run in shade/forest or in the evening or early morning
- Dehydration – can be very dangerous, always carry water, slow down or stop if you feel light-headed
- Sunstroke - wear a mesh cap to keep your head cool and drink water regularly
- Pollution - run on opposite side of road (side the wind is coming from),or in parks/greenbelts
